It’s summer 2020 and nearly every race has been canceled because of the global coronavirus pandemic. I was meant to do Ironman Lake Placid, alas it too was cancelled. I lost my focus to train and struggled to remain motivated.
A few weeks ago, I decided to do 45 minutes of physical activity for 45 days in honor of my 45th birthday (August 2), hence the advent of #45DaysOfFitness! This is my way to stay focused on keeping fit and healthy while not having races.
I’m also using these 45 days as a way to raise money for NYRR Team for Kids. The funds raised will support Rising New York Road Runners and Active at Home. Rising NYRR is designed to develop movement skills in kids of all ages and abilities. The power of physical activity to keep families physically and mentally strong, especially in the wake of COVID-19. That’s why NYRR developed Active at Home with fun activities and videos for children that keep space and social distancing in mind—now available in English and Spanish (en español).
Please consider making a tax-deductible donation in an increment of 45…$45, $450 or $4,500 in honor of my 45th birthday and #45DaysOfFitness. Yes, there were a lot of 45s in that last sentence!
Thanks in advance and go out for 45 minutes of fitness!
