Thank you SO much to all who have donated to Team for Kids in support of my running of the 2025 Tokyo Marathon to help me meet and surpass my fundraising goal. Our youth and community programs would not exist without your generous support!

I am proud to be running the 2025 Tokyo Marathon to benefit NYRR’s youth and community programs through Team for Kids so that as many NYC kids as possible can get as much out of running as I have. Running calms me down and focuses me. Running makes me a better dad, friend, and colleague.

My running journey started in high school when I ran cross country but wasn't a distance runner until I saw the Boston Marathon finish line in 1997. That made me want to run a marathon and I signed up for the New York City Marathon that year. It poured rain and I thought that would be the only marathon I’d want to run. But in 2013 I decided to run again with Fred’s Team to honor my late aunt who died from breast cancer.

When I became CEO of New York Road Runners in December 2022, I found the joy in running again. I’ve run 33 NYRR races and virtual races since and have trained with NYRR Group Training in the early mornings as often as I can. Happy to say, I’m running as well as I did in high school!
