If you've followed my run journey at all in recent years, you know that one of the reasons I started running was to prove that living with Type 1 diabetes (something I've done since 1988) doesn't hinder anyone, and you can run as far as you like — as long as you take the right precautions, believe in yourself, and keep putting one foot in front of the other.
Running goes far beyond just Type 1 diabetes, however. In running, I've found a community of likeminded people from all walks of life. People with Type 1 diabetes, people without it, avid runners, occasional runners, run coaches, all humans who simply enjoy the act of running. I only wish that I'd discovered the beauty of running earlier!
That's why I'm proud to be part of Team for Kids during the New York City Marathon — a dream of mine to run — and I hope you will support our efforts.
Your donation will help provide critical funds for Rising New York Road Runners – NYRR’s free youth program and events platform – designed to help kids of all ages and abilities to build confidence, gain motivation, and develop healthy attitudes toward physical activity that last for life!
Together, we can help 250,000 youth across the country to live healthier, more active lives. To donate, just follow the steps below. You can also click here for more information about Check Donations and Matching Gifts.
Thank you again for joining me in support of this great cause. Our finish line is active kids!
